What is Stephen Harper Reading?

You may remember that almost two years ago Yann Martel began a series of book recommendations to the Prime Minister, promising to send a book every two weeks while the Stephen Harper is PM. Well, he is still at it. Check out the website at What is Stephen Harper Reading?. My favourite selection is Book #28, Read All About It! by Laura and Jenna Bush. Yes, of those Bushes. It is a worthy subject, promoting the value of reading to children, but nonetheless odd. I would have figured that Harper had already read this, given that he is basically in Bush's back pocket! Heyo!
This project also begs another question, What is Yann Martel working on? He must be spending a lot of time on this project, and at some point he must ask himself if it's still worth it, given that he has only received one response, after the first book, and even then it was from the PM's assistant. Perhaps someone should be sending Martel books on breaking writer's block or changing careers or something. Heyo!

I completely forgot about this Martel initiative... good catch, especially the Bush book... that's just to see if anyone's reading along, I'm sure...

Judging by current events, Martel may have to expand to two sites after Christmas - What is Stephane Dion Reading? and What is Jack Layton Reading? But, according to Conservatives, that should be three - What is Gilles Duceppe Reading! We know what Harper will be reading - the want ads! Ha ha!
